2001 Sailing Trip to the Netherlands
June 2, 2001 to June 12, 2001

Introduction

When you think of the Netherlands, you probably think of wooden shoes or tulips.

What you should have been thinking about is sailing!

I along with Rob Chichester and Ken Jones arranged a charter in the Netherlands for a Sailing Club that we belong to. We boarded the boats, June 2, 2001, and returned the boats June 12, 2001 givin us a 10 day taste of sailing in the Netherlands.

These pages describe the tentative itinerary for the trip, and a report I wrote on our return. The Netherlands provides a wide range of sailing opportunities as can be seen in this map of the sailing area (126KB). Just to refresh your memory, here is a larger map including all of the Netherlands (105KB) (slight artifacts due to compression). We chartered Dehler 39 and 41 foot boats from Waterland Yacht Charter located in Monnickendam.
